Where Jesus Christ is LORD

Welcome to the website of Community Baptist Church. We are an American Baptist church located in Somerset, NJ. The focus of our ministry is five-fold:

  1. Preach and teach the Lordship of Jesus and being disciples to Him, including living under the authority of Scripture

  2. Encourage a life of prayer and fasting as instructed by Jesus.

  3. Enforce that the Scriptural model of  the family is the only way that the family will survive in the demanding world

  4. Encourage mission to our community and to our world by doing, not talking.

  5. Share the gospel of Jesus to our community through concentrated evangelism.

We would love to have you come and worship with us. We are multi-ethnic and multi-cultural. We believe that God is still very active in the world and what He says in His Word is still true, that we can still expect miracles to occur in the lives of those who believe in Him.

Why would you come to our church? What makes us different? There are many good churches. What makes this church special is a question that is asked by all persons who are seeking a church home. The only answer I can give to that question is that if you come you will interact with people who love Jesus, you will hear the full gospel preached with the intent to challenge you in your relationship with God, and you will be called to use your gifts in service to God and for His glory. We are looking for people who want to actively live out their relationship with God. If this describes what you are looking for, please come.

When you do come, introduce yourself to me. I want to meet those who desire to live for and serve God. We will equip you and nurture you and love you in Christ.

If you need to talk to me, call me at the church (732-246-1122) or e-mail: pastorgatcbc@yahoo.com

7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore He says:

When He ascended on high,

He led captivity captive,

And gave gifts to men.
9 (Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; - Ephesians 4:7-13
